31/10 More karaoke, Halloween izakaya

Went for a three-hour karaoke session last Friday. @_@ My throat was so dry afterwards, but it was fun! I don't think I'll be doing more than three hours anytime soon. I ran out of songs I could sing and some of the songs that I wanted to do, I couldn't, because it was either too difficult or I just forgot the melody. So yep, enough karaoke for me for at least a couple of days... But anyway, the point of mentioning this karaoke session is this! Behold the awesomeness!

It looks so good. ;_; But I didn't order it. Maybe next time...

31st of October is Halloween, so of course we had seats reserved at Torikizoku (the cheap izakaya) to celebrate the occasion! Just like in Sweden, Halloween is just another excuse to get drunk here. But while wearing costumes, of course. I would've liked to dres
s up as well, but I don't want to bother throwing the costume away when it's time for me to leave. I always think about it when I go out shopping. "Do I really need this? What should I do with it when it's time to go back?", so I end up not buying as much as I'd want to. This mainly applies to home tools and such though, I don't even have a pair of scissors! I kept thinking that I'd buy it later, but now I only have one month left and I've completely given up the thought of getting a pair.

So, back to the izakaya! Lots of people dressed up, we had witches, nuns, maids, super heroes, an Elvis, a dead Elton John, Mr. Horse and several masked people mingling
about. I got to try funny hats too. :D Look!

魔女の帽子! Gawd my teeth look yellow. I need my V6! >_< I can't stop doing the V-sign. I swore to myself when I came here that I wouldn't get sucked into this V-hysteria, but look what has become of me! Whenever I don't do it, I feel awkward not knowing what to do with my hands. How did I manage before? Someone help!

We met some interesting people there as well. There was this guy (TK-san) from a band who played at an event that a lot of JLSP:ers went to (not me though) who came to the nomikai as well. Topic of the conversation was naturally music, and he mentioned that he was friends with X Japan's guitarist (Pata? Just checked Wiki)! I haven't actually listened to any of X Japan's music nor do I intend to, but they're considered legends in the Japanese rock scene, I'm not exaggerating. M, a JLSP:er from Germany (doing the dead Elton John cosplay) seems to be really into them so imagine the overwhelming feelings he got when he got invited to a special live X Japan was going to do! That's really, really awesome. :D I was invited too but I turned it down. I thought that it'd be a waste to give an invitation to me, someone who hasn't listened to any of X's music and couldn't possibly appreciate it enough even if I went, but I kind of regret it now. Oh well, at least I exchanged business cards with TK-san and he said that my style reminded him of Studio Ghibli's works! That's such an honor to hear. I haven't drawn anything digitally since coming to Japan, but I really feel I need to do it soon. I have to make time somehow!
If anyone is interested in checking out Hybrid+ (the band TK-san is playing bass for), this is their website: www.hybrid-plus.jp

I am one fourth of the Swedish illustrator/manga/game studio Yokaj Studio, so I'm making this a shameless advertising spot for us.

We've just released our first comic/Swedish manga Kick Off!, and we're really proud of it, so if you're interested in it (even though it's only in Swedish for now) please check it out! It'd make us super happy. Thanks!
