First weirdo-on-train experience

I've been gradually getting used to riding trains here in Tokyo. You just have to remember that trains here never really become empty, like in Sweden. But then again, that is pretty understandable if we look at these numbers:
Population in Tokyo: ~ 12 894 000

Population in Sweden: ~ 9 224 000
The number for Tokyo's residents includes not only the central parts of the district, but the outskirts as well. Still, this means that you could cram every single person in Sweden into this city. And when you think about it like that, it's not such a strange thing that the trains are so full, whatever time you ride them in.

Having this in mind, it's even stranger that I actually haven't seen any weirdos on a train until today, two weeks into my stay. A group of us JLSPers were heading home after the last class and got onto the train as usual, no biggie here. A couple of stations into the ride this 30~40ish man comes on. There's nothing unusual about his appearance, he looks pretty normal and doesn't behave out of the ordinary. Yet. I was standing close to the doors and he took a stand in front of me. Now, this is when it starts to get creepy. He starts to make these puke-ish sounds and repeats "kaisoku" ("express", refering to the train) over and over again. He starts wobbling and suddenly he steps back and leans onto me! The guy next to me (looked like a high school student) looks at me, looks at the creepy guy and seems to want to help, so he takes a couple of steps to the side and lets me slide further into the train. But I'm still jammed inbetween the board I was leaning against and this creepy man (who was still being creepy), so it didn't help much. I think I looked pretty frightened, because a couple of moments afterwards S pulls me further inside and I managed to escape! \o/
This wasn't such a big deal but you still get kind of shaken up. Phew. I'm glad it wasn't a chikan (molester), I heard that one of the girls from our program got molested on the train not long ago, it must've felt horrible.

Afterwards when we had gotten off the train, the other JLSPers told me that the high school boy had been trying to speak to them in English, but it all ended with him mumbling "I'm sorry" to them. Aw, poor thing, but I do appreciate the little extra space I got when he moved to the side!

What I like to keep myself busy with

I am one fourth of the Swedish illustrator/manga/game studio Yokaj Studio, so I'm making this a shameless advertising spot for us.

We've just released our first comic/Swedish manga Kick Off!, and we're really proud of it, so if you're interested in it (even though it's only in Swedish for now) please check it out! It'd make us super happy. Thanks!

Kick Off!
